Biofeedback is one of the most modern non-pharmacological methods currently used in combination with psychotherapy to help the person cope with symptoms of anxiety. Precise instruments 'feed back' information to the person for the normal body functions (heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, sweating, brain waves, etc.). During the session the person can watch signals on the screen that represent these functions. With this way the person learns to control these functions in order to be ready to face up withthe devastating impact of stress on the body in situations of daily stress and anxiety.
Studies have shown that regular mental and physical relaxation can change brain chemistry and strengthen the control of our behavior and feelings.
